On the fireline
On the fireline We were taking a lunch break and Dennis "Doc" Dell was bothered by the light so he put his lunch sack over his head.
3-log cedar On the ground
This is a cedar tree down on the Plumas NF, I think. Three full-sized trees growing out of one stump; the final cut and all three fell at once in different directions. After we got it on the ground.
Canada - not.
Mike "Cool Hand Luke" Lever and Don Bailey on our first trip to Region 3. Unlike other crews, we never made it to Canada. The fire was about ½ mile from the border. They let us stop by the sign on our way home for this picture.
After the attack
We split up into squads doing project work. Squad two was by a spring that had these large leaves growing on a plant nearby. We painted ourselves up with mud and leaves and attacked squad one when we got back to quarters. After the attack.
The crew at Captain Jack's Stronghold in northern California. We spent the night at BIFC and this is a sunset picture.
